Section 6 Transportation Professional of the Year

Section 6 is proud to present Corinna M. Myers‐Herring, P.E. as our Transportation Professional of the Year.

Corinna began her career as a surveyor (construction and land) and was on the forefront of GPS and automated paving machines over those 14 years. During this time, Corinna juggled motherhood, household responsibilities, and a 30 to 60‐hour work week, while earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2002. She studied for both the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and the Professional Engineering exam while raising three children and working full time. Corinna brings a strong work ethic to all her personal and professional endeavors.

Since coming to the NYSDOT in 2005, Corinna has worked in several design positions including Highway Design, Consultant Management, Structures Design, Bridge Inspection, Regional Structures Management Engineer, Regional Structures Engineer, Area Construction Supervisor, and Regional Design Engineer. Notable projects include serving as a consultant management project engineer on the Route 15 Presho project and more recently on bridge deck overlays that included weekend full interstate closures. This last summer she divided her time between design and construction as Regional Structures Engineer and Area Construction Supervisor before being promoted to Regional Design Engineer.

Corinna has been an active member of NYSATE since 2005. Her involvement includes participating in the NYSATE Section 6 “150 Club,” as well as volunteering for conference committees. Corinna served as treasurer for the 80th NYSATE conference, to which COVID‐19 brought many challenges. Committee members changed, and expenses spanned an unanticipated three‐year period. Despite these obstacles, Corinna kept perfect records. She also assisted with the 69th conference, serving on the registration committee.

Corinna is actively involved in her community. She volunteered with the Elk Foundation, donates blood, and is a member of the Pioneer Christian Fellowship, where she participates in multiple ministries. She also volunteered for Grace Worship Arts, Inc., where she formerly served as treasurer/accountant. As a mother of three, she helped with both Brownies and Cub Scouts while her children were involved and was a parent chaperone for school field trips and extracurricular activities.
